Our Theoretical Knowledge training and examinations are based in the USA specifically to allow students to undertake hours-building or a parallel training course with another provider in the USA, while studying for their JAA ATPL groundschool. It is, in our experience, the most effective use of their time and helps ensure completion of the Theoretical Knowledge component to coincide with the start of the JAA commercial flight training.

The course is divided into three modules, each typically lasting 8 weeks (total course = 24 weeks).  Included in the Distance Learning package, our team of highly experienced instructors deliver a total of 120 hours of classroom-based consolidation in Melbourne, Florida, prior to the CAA examinations which are held monthly in Orlando Fl. or Oxnard Ca. 

Whilst it is possible for a student to sign up for ATPL courses in a variety of places we would suggest that when it comes to interview, student performance in these examinations in terms of first time pass rates and average scores, will be a major factor in their eventual selection.  We are very pleased therefore, to offer a syllabus created by the world leader in Computer Based Distance Learning courses, Bristol Ground School.

The course includes the core CBT study material on DVD, relevant CAA documents, the Jeppesen JAA Student Pilot Route Manual to be used in the examinations, FREE access to the Bristol Question Banks for six months, plus online instructor support via the Bristol Forums and email and 120 hours of classroom consolidation.  Full colour ring-bound course manuals are highly recommended and are made available as an optional extra both in the USA and the UK.

FlightPro is wholly owned and operated by Andy Woolford, former Chief Ground Instructor for the Pilot Training College (Florida), who first introduced and ran the Bristol syllabus in early 2009.  Whilst results depend ultimately on student commitment and ability, this well established programme reports typical first time pass rates of over 93% during 2009 and average scores > 85%.  The course also powers the ab-initio integrated and modular ATPL training for Airlines such as FlyBe and Air Astana and has been adopted by many other training organisations such as CTC for its outstanding performance. 

The ATPL groundschool is an essential component of any professional JAA licence, and we are therefore now offering this module to other flight schools, (training partners), who are approved to conduct the CPL and IR flight training component for any ICAO (e.g. FAA) or JAA licences. This will add value to the product which those schools already offer, and it will permit them to promote a cohesive course from ICAO PPL through to Frozen JAA ATPL, without having to make the significant investment in establishing their own ground school operations and approvals.

It is anticipated that students from ICAO compliant / FAA schools will complete the same groundschool course in parallel with their ICAO training and only require JAA flight training 'as required' in addition to their FAA licence in order to obtain the equivalent JAA licence.

Approved as a ground training FTO by the UK CAA, FlightPro does not currently market itself directly to students as we are focused on providing this service as a wholesale product to the flight training industry.  However, we will consider applications from existing ICAO commecial pilots for the ICAO - JAA conversion course.  Alternatively, we will be pleased to refer enquiries from students who are interested in taking our course in conjunction with modular flight training to one of our training partners.  In this respect we can tailor our training course to be branded in the name of the Training Partner, and to fit with their existing flight training programmes.
