Course Objectives This course is approved and recognized by the European JAA & EASA, and aims at preparing Regulatory Authority Inspectors and personnel of Operators or FSTD Manufacturers, who may be responsible for carrying out evaluations of Flight SimulationTraining Devices. Training will be provided in the interpretation and implementation of the European Joint Airworthiness Authorities (JAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations related to Flight Simulation Training Devices. Information in respect of the new ICAO Doc 9625 (Manual of Criteria for the Qualification of FSTD) will be included.
Participants should know that this course does not qualify anyone as a JAA / EASA Inspector. Other requirements must be met that are, currently, set by the individual NAA. Most NAAs require their inspectors to have completed the TTI course or a similar one as part of their training towards being recognised as an inspector.
Target Audience
Authority personnel, with emphasis on staff responsible for FSTD Evaluations. • FSTD Manufacturing Industry personnel from as wide a range of representatives as possible, but with emphasis on the evaluation and qualification of FSTD.• Training Organisations for licences and rating pilots; and holders of pilots licences and ratings who have particular responsibilities for the fidelity and qualification of FSTD.• Military personnel responsible for the evaluation/fidelity of FSTD or for the preparation of specifications and acquisition of FSTD. Note: Piloting experience is not required, but can be a valuable attribute.

During this phase the student is also given the opportunity to work with Qualification Test Guides (QTG) from actual FSTD and to review the requirements of a Quality System for FSTD, that is a part of the qualification process. Both fixed-wing and rotary-wing requirements are covered. The three of the days of the course utilize time (typically 12 hours) on a selection of operating simulators showing how evaluations are conducted and QTG results obtained.
Course Documentation
he documentation provided with the course will provide each student with a copy of each of the relevant JAR-FSTD documents covering fixed and rotary wing aircraft plus the corresponding FAA documents. In addition the student will receive a copy of Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the Royal
